Security

All communications occurring over the system use 128-bit SSL encrypted connections to secure the data. Medianet Secure Communicator uses the HTTPS protocol over port 443 (used in online banking) so there is no need to require opening untypical ports in any firewalls. Digital certificates on the MSM are used to identify both the server and the clients, so only authorized usage of the system is allowed. The MCM server uses the certificate to identify itself to the users so it guarantees security.

Because Medianet Secure Communicator was initially designed for the highly regulated financial services industry, our guiding development principle has been to ensure the highest level of security. With that in mind, Deloitte's Enterprise Risk Consulting Group has evaluated the security of Medianet's applications and processes.

Deloitte's overall approach consists of three major methods of testing, Black Box, Grey Box, and White Box testing. Each of these methods examines the security of an application from a different perspective. Black Box testing measures the security strength of an application from the perspective of an attack agent who has little knowledge and authorization to the application. Grey Box testing measures the security strength of an application from the perspective of an attack agent with some knowledge and authorization for the application. White Box testing measures the security strength of an application from the perspective of a user with comprehensive inside out knowledge of the application code and logic.

Under this three step scenario, Deloitte has certified the security of Medianet Secure Communicator. It is verified in Deloitte's report formatted to International Standards on Auditing (ISA 920/4400) standards. This report is intended to be used by Medianet for distribution to customers and their auditors.
